Keio has adopted ReadSpeaker as its voice for automatic in-station announcements.
From the end of March 2020, ReadSpeaker voices will be available in English at all Keio railway stations. In the event of service cancellations or delays, Keio not only provides regular announcements on their PA system and signage at stations but also broadcasts the information in Japanese to all stations from the Transportation Control Center.
Using ReadSpeaker speechEngine SDK, the company can convert text into voice in real time, instead of using a standard narrator’s recorded voice. In addition, the pronunciations of station names and other information can be customized in advance, making it possible to generate clearer and more natural sounding speech.
Keio is a prominent transportation company based in Japan. It operates one of Tokyo’s major private railway systems, the Keio Line, and provides essential commuter services to the Greater Tokyo area.
